HERE’S HOW IT WORKS 

STEP 1: READ 

Kids will read Make Your Own Money: How to Earn It, Save It, Spend It and Dream Big. All kids in grades 3 to 5 will receive a free book courtesy of PSG and our entrepreneur fair sponsors! Additionally, the library and each classroom k to 2 will receive a copy of the book. 

STEP 2: CREATE 

Kids grade 3 to 5 will team up with 2 to 3 classmates to create a business idea that everyone is excited about!  

STEP 3: PREPARE 

Each week starting Friday, January 19 through February 6 kids are invited to a “Friday Working Lunch.” Kids will bring their lunch to Room 103 to eat, learn, and work on their business ideas. PSG parent volunteers will guide them through creating a business plan using the worksheets at the back of the book. We’ll also offer two early morning work sessions on February 1 and 2 from 7:30 am to 8:00 am to finalize presentations. 

STEP 4: PRESENT at the DANNY DOLLAR KID ENTREPRENEUR FAIR  

Mark your Calendars! On February 9 at 2:00 pm, kids from grades 3 to 5 will present their business ideas! Teachers, parents and community members are invited—and encouraged—to attend.  

Danny Dollar Kid Entrepreneur Fair FAQ 

Q: Will kids create a real business? 

A: Students may create mock or real businesses. They will use Make Your Own Money as a guide to complete the worksheets in the back of the book and create their business plan. If they choose to sell their product or service, this will happen outside of school or during other school events, not during the entrepreneur fair. We want the fair to be about empowering kids to pursue their big ideas, not about competition. 

Q: How are teams created? 

A: Students team up in small groups (approximately 2-3 students) to develop a business idea.  

Q: What will be presented at the fair? 

A: Each group will be provided with a tri-fold board and supplies to create their business plan display. At the fair, half of the students will stay at their table and present while the other half move through the fair to see the other projects. Halfway through the fair, the groups will switch so everyone has a chance to see projects and also present their own ideas.  

Kids will give a short elevator pitch of 30-60 seconds that explains their business. Their displays will include a business name, a specific product or service, target customers and marketing ideas, a budget for expenses and profits, a sample product or picture to display, and a logo or design for the business (optional). Ty Allan Jackson will be onsite to help coordinate the fair and sign books for kids! 

Q: As a parent, how can I get help? 

A (part 1): Become a Parent Partner! Parent Partners help kids keep track while planning their business ideas. Parent Partners are invited to attend "Friday Working Lunches" at school and coordinate Business Plan Play Dates outside of class time (optional). Parent Partner volunteers attending Friday Working Lunches should be available from 12:10 - 1:20 PM. Both parents and students will bring their own lunches to Room 103. A (part 2): Become an Entrepreneur Fair Sponsor! Think of yourself, your business, or place of work as Angel Investors. Your donation, large (cha-ching!) or small, helps cover the cost of the innovative program! Sponsors will be acknolwedged at the fair, in our parent newsletter, and on social media.
